[Caevlist] New Oregon registration fees for EVs

This bill also taxes bicycle sales.    Obdii on bikes?   Maybe tied into your mandatory bike lights necessary for daylight biking with $500 tickets for non compliance?   Maybe they want to tax pedestrians using their smart phones?  Laugh now, but this is the fight of the future.
Solar panel taxes are being looked at as sources of revenue.   If you put up solar panels you must be rich, so we wantsome of the money for.....uhh.....sustainability.....Likewise for home gardens.

Insurance companies, tax people, everyone wants to use the obdii.   I guarantee they aren't doing it for charitable reasonsor the reason they "say" they are doing it for.     

Gas tax and weight mile are the best systems, but the truck lobby fights weight mile  and gas tax affects the general population, so they resort to this divide and conquer baloney and call it "usage" tax and fool the hippie class into thinkingthis is "fairness" and for "sustainability".

I have no problem with raising the gas tax or weight mile.   I am disgusted with millions of phony "user fees" as camouflage for divide and conquer strategies to get beer money when the costs to administer these new taxes areridiculously inefficient.   There are only about 1000 gas stations and 4 MILLION vehicles.   So which do theydecide to tax?

You think the politicians consulted Prius owners and EV people before they did this?   Uh huh.   I have a bridgeto sell you....that supports 130,000 lb trucks...paid for by the people who try and do the right thing for the environment.

I'm pretty sure the average guy with a prius doesn't realize that he's going to have much higherregistration fees than the guy that gets 1mpg less.   Be nice if the papers/facebook/social media could publicize it.

I'm glad Craig Hudson found it otherwise I wouldn't have even known about it.   I had an inkling when they startedputting a "hybrid" checkmark on the registration last year.     

Make no mistake...What this is, is an attempt to avoid raising the gas tax, which affects everyone, so instead theywant a way to generate revenue by dividing and conquering and doing it as secretly as possible without the 
voters noticing.    It's not nice.   It's actually kind of evil.
