>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
/*Works on Paper */presents two interconnected activities by Mexico City
/ Zürich-based composer *Manfred Werder*, an outdoor dérive and an
indoor performance.
To participate in the dérive, arrive at Passages Bookshop between 1:45
and 2:00 pm. There will be a break between the dérive and the evening
performance.
Werder’s Portland activities continue the artist's practice of
inscription, which includes ongoing writing projects /20160/ (three 22
meter long scrolls), /20170/ (a stack of found paper), /20190/ (historic
postcards), and /[ the music of history ]/ — described as "the
inscription of the earth, that is, both the earth that inscribes and the
earth that is inscribed."
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
*Manfred Werder*, composer and performer, is wandering through the
abundance in which he traces all possible enunciation regarding the
world. His recent work /[ the music of history ]/ consists of
inscription of found materials through typewriters and of public space
through dérive. Earlier works include /stück 1998/, a 4,000-page score
whose nonrecurring and intermittent performative realization has been
ongoing since December 1997. He lives in situ.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
/*Works on Paper*/ supports activities that use concepts,
characteristics, and histories of the book, and entanglements with text,
as a frame for exploratory practice across the arts. This season's
series, /*Experiments in Language and Sound*/, which highlights artists
working at the intersection of experimental music and poetry, has been
organized by David Abel and Robert Blatt. For more information, please
visit worksonpaper.ricercata.org.
/*Works on Paper: Experiments in Language and Sound*/ is funded in part
by the Regional Arts & Culture Council and with support from the Swiss
Arts Council Pro Helvetia.
