[Caevlist] Vehicle to become portable solar charging station?

 Hi Phil, Larry, Kirk,

I'd be interested in helping.  After speaking with Kirk at the last CAEV club meeting, the project seems much more doable than Allen's website suggests, although I'm assuming a different focus: solar charging rather than human-powered kinetic sculpture.  I have seen similar projects on a smaller scale, perhaps we can base the re-build on some of those.
Can we meet with the Energy Action Team to get a better idea of their goals, and can we see the parts of the orig. project?
Thanks,
John--On Tuesday, October 23, 2018, 2:30:31 PM PDT, phil hochstetler <phil.hochstetler at gmail.com> wrote:

OSU has a solar trailer that has batteries, power outlets, and built-in EV charger.  It has to be towed though.

Is anyone interested in helping Kirk with this project for the City? This would be in association with the Energy Action Team of the Corvallis Sustainability Coalition. Thanks.

Hello All,
I have a request. I would like you to evaluate the attached
photo and website regarding a possible project. This vehicle was
entered in the 2006 Kinetic Sculpture Race by Allen Brown.
I was looking for a possible vehicle to be used for a solar
charging station that could be transported or transport itself around
town for solar demonstrations and thought I would check for existing
vehicles. I checked with folks who ran the Kinetic Sculpture Race
(KSR) and they eventually guided me to this vehicle known as Sojourner
and modeled after the NASA Mars Sojourner (three sets of wheels). I
made contact with the current owner, Dave Nieman, this weekend. He is
storing the vehicle in various pieces in his garage and attic (for 12
years).
The question is who would be interested in helping to restore
this vehicle (I would)? We would need a storage/assembly location and
funding.  The city has been considering bike trailer recharging
stations; we might be able to find a funding source; if they are
interested in the design. Any questions, let me know or we can discuss
them at the meeting, Nov 5th.
                               Thanks,
                                    Kirk Rensmeyer
