The CAEV has a group entry in the parade - I signed 'us' up.  The number of cars/vehicles is still unknown to me...

FOLKS - PLEASE RESPOND WITH YOUR PLANS FOR BEING IN THE PARADE AND BEING IN GREENTOWN (AND WHICH DAYS).

I WILL HOPEFULLY BE ABLE TO MEET THOSE THAT WANT TO PUT THEIR CARS IN ON FRIDAY.

Thanks,

Disorganizer,

Larry

Hi Larry et al.

I originally sent this email to Larry last night and it bounced – inbox overfull? This is a resend and hopefully will succeed in getting to Larry. Apologies if it’s going to some who are not planning to parade but it may save Larry’s time in getting the info out for those in the parade group.

I’ll be in touch re the music transport once I get more info from the dancers. Thanks for the offer.

Of interest: while the festival doesn’t have a theme this year, the kinetic sculpture race does:  Drag Race. Feel free to play with that in the parade should CAEV want to – a pretense at revving your electric engines? Obviously, an attempt at drag racing would be at a snail’s pace given the slow motion of the parade. Anyway, if only for the humor, thought you’d enjoy knowing.

Not sure what your plans are for getting the cars over to Campus Way. If it works for you, my recommendation is that each driver stop by the Parade Table (SW corner of Campus Way) to check in and one the volunteers will direct them to the CAEV staging area on Campus Way. They can park there until the parade is ready to start. If you prefer another approach, let me know.

Below is the official parade packet email…

Instructions for Leo’s Kinetic Parade are attached. Along with the Parade Guidelines (also attached), they should answer your questions. Contact me if you need more information.

On Saturday, you’ll be checking in at the Parade Table located on the SW corner of 14th Street & Campus Way. A bright blue grass umbrella will be marking the spot!

Check-in between 11:00 -11:30 am.  Please be on time!  Once the parade starts at 12:00 pm, it is unlikely a latecomer will be able to participate.

Parking near the parade check-in is available in the OSU lots behind Covell Hall (access from Monroe Ave, across from 16th St) and Kelley Engineering Building (access from Monroe Ave  at 25th St). Limited on-street parking is available on the nearby streets to the north of Monroe Ave.

If you have something to unload, turn onto the West side of Campus Way from 14th Street. Pull over to curb side on the south side of Campus Way (near the Parade Table) street  and a volunteer will direct you to your staging area where you can unload. Watch out for Kinetic Sculptures that will be traveling down Campus Way towards the OSU Campus.

For an online map of SW Campus Way and parking, visit this OSU website: http://oregonstate.edu/campusmap/
(to view the Parking Lots, click on “Parking” in the top navigation bar)

We’re looking forward to seeing you at the parade! Be sure to tell all your friends, neighbors, and family to watch the parade. The parade route offers lots of great viewing spots all along the loop around Monroe Ave, 6th Street, Jefferson Ave, and 14th Street. And it’s free!

Thanks for joining the parade,
Laura
