*SPEAKING THROUGH LETTERS*

Reading letters aloud, reading sound. Reading letters as words and words
through letters. How a sentence snapped in two will conjoin with the
length of any other fragment to generate new meaning. Poems, text and
thoughts are those fragments. Seeing reading write. Writing seeing read.
These are the parameters of the gig, as well as hearing - hearing how
living in new environments alters not only the person, but the environment.

*Nico Vassilakis* is a visual and textual poet. His recent books include
/Voir Dire/ (Dusie Press 2020) and /Letters of Intent/ (CyberWit 2022)
along with other pamphlets and booklets. Nico is a contributing editor
for /Utsanga/ and has had his work exhibited globally. He lives in the
middle of nowhere in Illinois with his wife and animals.

For years the conceptual elasticity of the written line, the drawn line,
and the spoken line has been a gestural curiosity for *mARKO WHENs*. His
poem in the Works on Paper series will be a continuation of this tangled
project.

mARKO was fortunate enough to be a founding member of the Spare Room
reading series in Portland. His blend of poetry and performance draws
from a long history of art approaches such as fluxus, dada, happenings,
and gutai. His recent book of verbal scores, /Continue Us/ can be
purchased through Passages Bookshop. He lives in Portland and works as a
psychoanalyst.

*Works on Paper <https://worksonpaper.ricercata.org> *supports
activities that use concepts, characteristics, and histories of the
book, and entanglements with text, as a frame for exploratory practice
across the arts. The spring 2023 series, /Experiments in Language and
Sound/, was curated by Robert Blatt and David Abel. For more
information, please visit the Works on Paper site
<https://worksonpaper.ricercata.org>.

The Works on Paper series is funded in part by the Regional Arts &
Culture Council.
